Reddit's structure is uniquely addictive. Every subreddit is a different rabbit hole. You start on r/programming, end up on r/todayilearned, and somehow find yourself reading relationship advice an hour later. The comment threads go deep, and there's always one more interesting post to read.
How Sloth blocks Reddit
Sloth blocks reddit.com, www.reddit.com, and old.reddit.com at the system level:
- DNS hosts file blocks the domain from resolving
- Packet filter firewall blocks Reddit's IP addresses
- Browser redirect catches any attempt and shows a blocked page
- Works across Safari, Chrome, Arc, Brave, and every other browser
Budget your Reddit time
Use Sloth's daily budget to give yourself a time limit. Maybe 15 minutes of Reddit per day is reasonable. Once you hit the limit, Reddit is blocked until tomorrow morning. You can still browse during breaks, but the endless scroll has an ending.
